Unfortunately this has caught the eye of Real Estate developers, who have long tried capitalize on El Barrio’s low property values and proximity to high income areas such as “Yorkville”. The Residents of 101 East 116th Street, most of whom are in rent controlled apartments, are slowly becoming one of the many casualties of this greed.
